2000: May 5 preliminary open. September 1 official open.
In 2000, the arena hosted a NHL ice hockey game between the Nashville Predators and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In 2003, NBA basketball teams Seattle SuperSonics and the Los Angeles Clippers, played two games at the arena.
On May 5, 2003 the arena hosted Kei Yasuda's graduation from Morning Musume as well as Hitomi Yoshizawa's graduation nearly 4 years later to the day, on May 6, 2007.
On December 24, 2004 the arena played host to Music Station Super Live 2004.
On February 7, 2005 the arena hosted WWE Raw for United States cable television network Spike TV. The main event of the Raw hour was Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels, and the main event of the Raw Zone hour featured Triple H against Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Queen + Paul Rodgers performed at the arena on October 26 and 27, 2005. The concerts were depicted in the concert DVD Super Live in Japan.
In 2006, the arena hosted the Final Round of the Basketball World Championship 2006. It also hosted a concert titled "Dead or Alive" by the band Janne Da Arc on May 20.
During 2006, Hikaru Utada's Utada United 2006 and Mai Kuraki's Diamond Wave Live Tour concert were held and recorded.
On October 20 and 21, 2006 American superstar Mariah Carey performerd two sold-out shows in the arena during her The Adventures of Mimi tour.
On April 1, 2007, Berryz Kobo held a concert at Saitama Super Arena, becoming the youngest female group ever to perform there whose members average age did not exceed 14 years (thereby dethroning Morning Musume, whose average was 16.3).[3]
On December 31, 2007 the arena hosted Yarennoka, an MMA promotion organized by the former staff members of Pride Fighting Championship.
On January 3, 2008 the arena hosted Nana Mizuki's live concert and released the concert DVD Nana Mizuki Live Formula at Saitama Super Arena.
On August 30 and 31, 2008 the arena hosted Animelo Summer Live 2008 Challenge.
On October 4, 2008 the arena hosted Radiohead's live concert broadcast on Japanese WOWOW.
On February 9 and 10, 2009, the arena hosted a concert for British alternative rock band Coldplay on their Viva la Vida Tour.
On July 4 and 5, 2009, the arena hosted Masaharu Fukuyama's 20th anniversary national tour concert.[4]
On July 12, 2009 the arena hosted Japanese artist and superstar Gackt and his "Gackt Vicualive Arena Tour 2009 Requiem et Reminiscence II Final". This is last premiere of his tour after total 59 performances with enormous success. One part was broadcast on Japanese WOWOW.
On August 22 and 23, 2009 the arena hosted Animelo Summer Live 2009 RE:BRIDGE.
On September 5, 2009, rock band the GazettE live concert and released the concert DVD "Tour 09 -Dim Scene- Final at Saitama Super Arena".
On November 29, 2009 the arena hosted one of the biggest fights in Japan's history as WBC Flyweight Champion Daisuke Naito defends his title against Koki Kameda.
On December 31, 2009 the arena hosted "FieLDS Dynamite!! The Power of Courage 2009" which was hosted by MMA promotions Dream and Sengoku along with kickboxing promotion K-1.
On January 9, 2010 the arena hosted the rock band Nightmare's 10th anniversary concert.
On January 23 and 24, 2010 the arena hosted Green Day as part of their 21st Century Breakdown World Tour. Green Day taped the show for their new live album titled Awesome as , released on March 22, 2011.
On August 28 and 29, 2010 the arena hosted Animelo Summer Live 2010 evolution.
On December 31, 2010 the arena hosted "FieLDS Dynamite!! ~ Power of Courage 2010" which was hosted by fight promotions DREAM and K-1.
On February 20, 2011 the arena hosted the K-ON! anime live concert Come With Me!!.
On August 27 and 28, 2011 the arena hosted Animelo Summer Live 2011 rainbow.
Siam Shade performed a reunion charity concert, titled "Great Tohoku Earthquake Restoration Support Charity Live Siam Shade Spirits ~Return the Favor~", at the arena on October 21, 2011.[5]
Luna Sea performed their October 22, 2011 charity concert, "Luna Sea for Japan "A Promise to the Brave"", at the arena. Tickets sold out in five minutes.[6]
On Christmas Day, December 25, 2011, Momoiro Clover Z performed to a sold-out crowd of 10,000, their largest to date.[7]
On February 1, 2012, Tomoyasu Hotei performed his 50th birthday concert at the arena. His former Boøwy bandmate Makoto Takahashi appeared as a special guest drummer.[8]
On February 4th & 5th, 2012 Avril Lavigne performed to a sold-out crowd of over 35,000.
The arena hosted the Japanese return of the Ultimate Fighting Championship on February 26, 2012 for UFC 144.
On 18th, 19th, and 21th of March, Tohoshinki hosted their TONE live tour 2012, using the the stadium configuration (37 000), the 3 days were sold out.
On 23rd, 24th, and 25th of March, Japan's largest idol group AKB48 hosted their concert here to commemorate the start of their whole nation tour.
On May 10th, 12th and 13th, 2012 Lady Gaga performed three sold-out dates during her Born This Way Ball Tour to over 96,000 fans.
South Korean girl group Girls' Generation will perform to six sold-out dates at the stadium during their Second Japan Arena Tour, on February 16th and 17th; March 19th and 20th and April 4th and 5th, 2013.
